Overview

The Senior Accountant reports directly to the European AP lead and will be based in Breda, Netherlands. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for Accounts Payable and General Accounting within the European Shared Services. Additionally the Senior Accountant will be highly involved in the monthly, quarterly and yearly close activities. This is a hands-on position working directly with all members of the European Shared Services as well as cross-functionally within the local entity and the global organization. Doing this the Accountant will collaborate with different divisions across Europe to implement process improvements. The Accountant works closely with Sales, Customer Service, Warehouse, Purchasing, Operations and other parts of the organization and is responsible for the following.

Responsibilities

As Sr Accountant you will be responsible for the following:

Accounts Payable & Expenses:

  • Vendor invoice and payment processing with focus on automation
  • Manage supplier down payments and the respective reconciliation
  • Travel & Expense reporting
  • Lease accounting
  • Accrual calculations and reconciliations

General Accounting:

  • Key contributor to the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process including the preparation of journal entries, reclassifications, account reconciliations, accruals, lease and reserve calculations and intercompany transactions
  • Ensure compliance with audit requirements and address inquiries from external auditors
  • Ensure proper recording of financial transactions and alignment with other Repligen sites
  • Conduct regular assessments to ensure adherence to SOX compliance standards
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation and filing of all tax-related documents
  • Prepare and support the VAT, ZM and Intrastat filings

Other tasks:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements
  • Implement best practices to increase the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting
  • Support the Accounts Receivable Team  including customer invoicing, customer correspondence, recovering outstanding claims, reserves, cash entries etc.
  • Other tasks and duties that may not be in this list

Qualifications

The successful candidate meets the following requirement:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent
  • 4–6 years of accounting experience
  • Technical knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP as well as local GAAPs in Europe
  • Experience with internal controls frameworks (e.g., SOX, COSO) and audit processes
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) and Excel
  • High attention to detail and commitment to delivering accurate results
  • Proactive and self-driven with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Comfortable working in a matrixed, multinational environment
  • Strong degree of independence and sense of ownership; capable to meet deadlines
  • Fluent in English; additional European languages are a plus
