Overview

The Automation Engineer - Applications is actively working with and participating in projects in the integration of controls, instrumentation and automation in pharmaceuticals’ manufacturing processes, process systems and equipment, from the engineering, physical installations and in the process systems’ end user applications point of view. You are a valuable member of our global organization and part of our Process Engineering (Controls, Automation & Instrumentation) team.

Responsibilities

As Automation Engineer - Applications your responsibilities will be:

  • Undertake engineering & programming tasks in projects and solve complex technical challenges as per customer or user requirements.
  • Design, program, test industrial control systems and Instrumentations devices mostly for R&D and applications, for pharmaceutical process systems.
  • Provide engineering, technical and application support information to internal and external stakeholders by reviewing queries and/or documents pertaining to process control systems.
  • Support global engineering teams in various internal and external projects as process control and instrumentation SME
  • Work on modernising existing products using smaller, leaner and smarter solutions.
  • Help choose, analyse and integrate new instruments and components in our process systems.
  • Design technical solutions on the basis of customer user requirement specifications and/or requests for quotations.
  • Communicate directly with clients and encourage trusting relationships during and after handover of process systems to clients
  • Perform other business-related tasks and assignments
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
  • Provide Process Automation application support both on site as well as remotely for end user processes and systems.
  • Support and coach members of the Process Engineering team and other Engineering departments on Process Automation topics.

Qualifications

the successful candidate has proactive & problem-solving mindset, backed-up with:

 

  • Good understanding of PLC programming languages as described in Part 3 of IEC 61131 and SCADA systems for data acquisition.
  • Good understanding of field bus communication systems and communication protocols with supervising data acquisition and control systems.
  • Good understanding of electrical engineering, electrical and automation design best practices in Europe and the USA. 
  • Ability to multi-task and adhere to deadlines
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Ability to work outside normal office hours due to differing time zones
  • Ability to travel mainly in Europe, Asia, and the USA
